  • Danish Cancer Society samples to be stored in DNB
DNA samples from the participants in the Diet Cancer and Health cohort will be transferred to the Danish National Biobank Henceforth researchers will be able to retrieve these samples through the DNB s automated freezer and the aliquotting robots in the biobank laboratory New samples from the next generation Another large scale cooperation between the DNB and the Danish Cancer Society will be the sample collection from the next generations

  • DNA from Danish National Birth Cohort samples
2013 Starting last year the biobank staff have been working hard to have extract DNA from all the samples in the Danish National Birth Cohort DNBC and they expect to reach their goal before the Christmas holidays Once the DNA is extracted the remaining material will be transferred to new tubes which will be stored in a new 80 C automatic freezer which can hold more than 4 M samples

  • Grand opening of the Danish National Biobank
press pdf The opening of the Danish National Biobank marks an exceptional collaboration between the public and the private sector in Denmark At the same time the initiative is unique on an international scale The Danish National Biobank consists of a biobank building of more than 3 000 m2 for storing and retrieval of biological samples Equipped with the most advanced robot technology on the market the Danish National Biobank will be making more than 15 million biosamples available to Danish research within the coming years Moreover the Biobank consists of a national biobank register containing information on samples available in large Danish biobanks including tissue samples from Danish hospitals Scientists will be able to gain online access to this register The cost of establishing the Danish National Biobank amounts to a total of DKK 179 million financed largely by funds from the Novo Nordisk Foundation Other important contributions have come from the Danish Government Programme for Research Infrastructure and from the Lundbeck Foundation Denmark is leading in the field of register based research Denmark s unique national registers make it possible to study its population from cradle to grave Linking registers is made particularly easy with the introduction of

  • Copenhagen Bioscience Conference
are selected within the areas of biomedicine and biotechnology The conferences are chaired by leading scientists from the Novo Nordisk Foundation cluster of research centers located at universities in the Copenhagen Region Copenhagen Region as research stronghold The aim of the Copenhagen Bioscience Conferences is to raise international awareness of the Copenhagen Region as a stronghold in the research areas of the centers covering metabolism stem cells proteins and biosustainability Upcoming Conferences Nutrient and Metabolic Sensing 1 5 November 2015 Nutrients and metabolites are generally considered to function mainly as fuels or energy sources However key metabolites derived from food components gut microbiota fermentation and from host intermediary metabolism act as important signaling molecules being sensed by intracellular enzymes and a large number of selective nuclear and cell surface receptors to control metabolism and other functions throughout the body These metabolite receptors are highly interesting potential novel drug targets Read more about the conference Past Conferences Cell Factories and Biosustainability 19 21 May 2015 PTMs in Cell Signaling 14 18 September 2014 The Stem Cell Niche 18 22 May 2014 Genomics in Metabolism 3 6 November 2013 Cell Factories and Biosustainability 5 8 May 2013 PTMs in Cell Signaling 2
