  • CBSLife To Be or Not To Be: Fitting in with the CBS Stereotype - CBSLife
first day of school we probably did not show up completely unbiased However I m one month in now and I must admit that my friends prejudices as prejudices tend to do have been proven wrong Or at least some of them Because yes I have gotten my very first friend from Konservativ Ungdom and it luckily seems there are more to come As aforementioned it was DJ Alligator who played at our first official CBS party and though some might disagree I did not find this to be the most high brow choice of entertainment Our cabin trip was sponsored by the Danish bank Nordea and FinanceLab did seem to interest lots of my fellow students whereas no feminist organization is to be found among the student societies And when I ask my new classmates which of their prejudices about CBS have been confirmed every one seems to agree that even though it may not be every students ambition to make bundles of money it is true that students are very ambitious about their work and business and finance Luckily the first four weeks have shown there is so much more to CBS life than this Something that seems to have positively surprised almost all the first year students I have talked to is the social life at school and the possibilities to engage in extracurriculars I personally expected or feared everyone would have a very individual mindset and that after intro weeks students would engage in nothing but their own studies driven by their individual goals More and more students seem to be participating in activities besides their studies and have arranged far more events social and academic than I have even been able to attend Though most students look alike as most Danes look alike there is a much more relaxed atmosphere when it comes to appearance than what many of us were told beforehand and even if Nexus s theme this week is suit up this does not seem to be the everyday dress code at CBS you can actually look however you want listen to whatever kind of music you want and even say you are originally from Jutland without having people look at you the wrong way Share this story Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn About the Author Sidsel Green Sidsel is a second year IBP student originally born and raised in the dark side of Jutland now exploring the life of CBS and Copenhagen Sidsel spent some years in between her high school and bachelor studies in London doing absolutely everything but being academic frankly she just partied and is therefore trying to get used to studying again and living in a city where every one looks the same and understands everything she is saying Sidsel s three greatest loves are white russians from Nexus gangsta rap and what she believes to be her hometown but really isn t London Tags cbs first impressions intro Prejudices Previous Post Next Post Related News April 22

  • CBSLife How To: Survive CBS - CBSLife
I am so bad statistics that by linear regression I have already failed and I am now a hobo This is probably the most common strategy There is a never ending supply of like minded souls around exam time and it s pretty easy to master this game Between all classes you just find a group of people who are nervous about their own skills and then proclaim yourself to be the worst They take comfort in knowing they are not the only ones and you have now completely absolved yourself from even trying It is much more comfortable to fail when you haven t even made an effort Incidentally this works in almost all aspects of life Just tell people you suck at cooking and they will never complain about your burnt toast Tell people you cant dance and be secure in the knowledge that people won t even laugh when you try This is a strategy that can get you out of almost any sort of effort for life So this is where you will most likely find your wolves to howl with but just be prepared for that awkward moment when somebody doesn t suck Or you get a good grade Your new self deprecating group is fickle my friend and doesn t allow for winners Which means you could Up Your Game Look deep inside and realize what your strengths and weaknesses are Then work hard to improve your skills Take the time away from fun procrastination activities and study up Ask questions when you don t understand something and immerse yourself in your studies Maybe get a tutor You might not get the same emotional support as the liars and the whiners and you would have less spare time in your everyday life but you would more feel secure and comfortable But let s be honest The Truth is You re Screwed What choice are you going to make What are you going to pick to do now Work out Go to bed early and get your full eight hours of sleep Harness your organic green house tomatoes from your garden You might as well grow college credits from your pancreas The odds are not in your favor that you ll become the perfect student Procrastination is a powerful vice So get a drink and push that reading to next week you are in the same boat as the rest of us who are just trying to survive CBS In fact I even think Friends is on right now Share this story Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn About the Author Sine Morris Sine Morris is a fugitive from Århus who is constantly baffled by the strange actions of these copenhageners She never leaves Frederiksberg where she lives at a kollegium with her adopted hamster Sved Sine studies IB so that she can one day become an American and manipulate the world with her marketing magic Sine is starting to warm to this strange part of Denmark

  • CBSLife Jazz We Can! The Story of CBS Jazz - CBSLife
take place every Thursday night at Nexus They are playing mostly electro and hip hop so we thought Jazz would be a nice alternative Furthermore we both like jazz The last three concerts have been a big success for the young organization At the first event exactly a year ago Nexus was completely crowded For their second concert CBS Jazz received financial support from the famous Ben Webster foundation The bands which play here are always very happy with the audience Normally they play in Jazz houses where the audience is much older Here they have young people who come to listen to them explains Paul To quote one of the former artists who performed at Nexus Here we have the feeling that Jazz is young Sponsorship for Further Events This time just around 60 people came to the concert of the Simon Linnert trio One possible reason The entrance fee of 50 DKK Maybe many students think this is a lot of money just for Nexus which is normally free of any entrance fee says Paul But people should be aware of this if they attending a normal Jazz club the entrance could be free but the prices for drinks or food are much higher than at Nexus Furthermore it would be very hard to find a concert somewhere in Copenhagen where professional musicians perform for an entrance fee lower than 70 DKK anyways But the founder of CBS Jazz is aware of this problem We try to inform students about the fact that our entrance fee isn t that high but we also want to establish different sponsors to lower our costs and by doing this the prices for our guests Hence the next event of CBS Jazz will be in cooperation with CBS Students on the 21st of November with no entrance fee For the future the vision of CBS Jazz is to establish their own house band The organization is getting many requests by other organizations asking for musicians to play at events If we had our own band we could provide the CBS events with music and could have more jazz evenings shares Paul After two hours the performance of Simon Linnert at the Piano Morten Christian Haxtholm at the bass Per Møllerhøj at the guitar and drummer Rasmus Schmidt is over It was a pretty cool gig here states the head of the band Simon Linnert at the end of the concert Hopefully there will be more events at Café Nexus to come Note CBS Jazz is searching for volunteers for their events Are you interested Mail to jazz cbsstudents dk For more information check out their Facebook page here to check for upcoming events and follow the organization s news Share this story Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn About the Author Felix Ehrenfried Tags cbs events Jazz Sponsorship Studentical organization Previous Post Next Post Related News April 24 2016 CBS This Week Week 17 April 17 2016 CBS This Week Week 16 April 13

  • CBSLife The Story of CBS Wine and How They Will Get You To Drink - CBSLife
been gaining momentum Evidence of this was their popularity at the Student Society Day we attribute this to more than just the free drinks and the popularity of their events Up until now they have been hosting regular wine tastings sometimes with a theme sometimes not The way it works is that students can purchase a ticket online For this price they are invited to a wine tasting where they can sample a variety of bottles Throughout the evening students have the chance to discuss the different kinds of wine and speak to representatives in order to insure that all questions are answered Students also have the chance to buy their favorite bottles of the night at discounted prices But don t be fooled When CBS Wine holds an event it s not all about the mossy taste of the wine or your ability to drop other dazzling descriptors Instead the focus is on having fun networking and figuring out what you like whether that be red or white Today marks the beginning of a new event for the club They will be holding their first ever Wine Festival tonight featuring 50 different bottles The event is no doubt going to be a success especially considering that the 150 tickets sold out in less than 48 hours If you are not fortunate enough to be going tonight make sure that you like CBS Wine s page on Facebook That s where they announce all their events and other important information The club expects to hold four more wine tastings before the winter break in January including a special Christmas one With CBS Wine s great recommendations in mind maybe this year s gift list won t be so hard to figure out You re bound to impress your boss friends or that special someone with your excellent taste in wine or at least get them a little tipsy in the process Share this story Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn About the Author Analisa Winther Analisa Winther is studying Cand merc Management of Innovation and Business Development She is a GLOBE Scholar and holds a Bsc in International Business Fun fact she also founded CBSLife Half Danish and half America Analisa loves entrepreneurship food traveling and a great story You can most likely find her sitting at DARE2mansion or searching for her next adventure Follow her on Twitter analisawin Tags bank bordeaux bronze buch cbs wine club cup hansen left organization peter red student tasting white Previous Post Next Post Related News April 24 2016 CBS This Week Week 17 April 17 2016 CBS This Week Week 16 April 13 2016 Ublend Releases the World s First Education Network April 10 2016 CBS This Week Week 15 Leave a reply Cancel reply Name Email Website Comment Find us on Facebook Popular Recent Categories Does Denmark Have a Race Problem 106 Comments The 5 Worst Things About Moving to Copenhagen 15 Comments The Ethics of Blanking as a Strategy 9 Comments How To
