    Sensors installed Light weight material soft impact landing You are here Home Soil Moisture Network Courses Surface ground water interaction From watershed processes to hyporheic exchange 27 06 2016 9 00 am Geocenter Undervisningslokale 14 Area 4 5th International COSMOS Workshop 22 08 2016 8 00 am Forest and Landscape College Airborne Campaigns Weather Radar Models Soil Moisture Network Remote Sensing Geophysics Isotopes Cosmic ray Greenhouse Gasses Soil Moisture Network For satellite validation as well as hydrological modeling activities spatially distributed long term soil moisture measurements are of high relevance in order to represent the encountered variability in landscape characteristics For this reason a soil moisture and temperature network with 30 stations was established within the Skjern River Catchment in fall 2009 To find representative locations for the individual network stations land cover top and subsoil data were compiled and the stations distributed according to their respective fractions Furthermore the stations were aligned along the long term precipitation gradient and placed to cover the HOBE agriculture Voulund and forest Gludsted field sites as well as the more loamy area in the east of the catchment For the stations in agriculture fields the most frequent crop types namely barley grass wheat

    Forest and Landscape College Airborne Campaigns Weather Radar Models Soil Moisture Network Remote Sensing Geophysics Isotopes Cosmic ray Greenhouse Gasses Isotopes Cosmic ray Isotopes The stable isotopes of water oxygen 18 and deuterium are used as tracers for quantifying fluxes across hydrological compartments including flow in the vadose zone WP3 and groundwater surface water interactions WP4 and WP5 Danish Network of Isotopes in Precipitation WP10 A regional network of precipitation collectors has been established in 2012 with the objective of obtaining time series of stable isotopes in precipitation across the Skjern River Catchment The network is supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA and is the Danish part of the Global Network of Isotopes in Precipitation GNIP Cosmic ray Cosmic ray neutrons can be used to measure water at and near the land surface mainly soil water snow and water in and on vegetation The cosmic ray method takes advantage of the inverse relation between the intensity of cosmogenic neutrons in air above land surface and soil moisture With a unique horizontal footprint of hectometers and a vertical footprint of decimeters cosmic ray measurements average out small scale variations in soil moisture and provide an area average representative measure
