  • Offshore » Radar system to reduce turbine nuisances
reduced as much as possible while the safety of the flying traffic is the same I m sure most people want renewable energy and appreciate that we in Denmark are researching and developing the world s best wind turbines I know that it can be troublesome to live close to the turbines Therefore it is important in terms of public support that we have developed systems that reduce the nuisances while we are moving towards a greener future says Henrik Wadmann project manager at the North Jutland wind energy network Hub North The radar system is developed by the tech company Terma A S which primarily develops military radar systems worldwide The same radars are used by the coastguard and traffic in the ports for ships on a collision course or suspicious vessels Terma is the only one on the market that can offer radar technology that can also turn on and off the light We are still in a testing period where we need to gain experience but we have already put the product on the market and have high expectations in Germany and the US which typically have many onshore installations says Søren Ræbild Nedergaard sales manager at Terma A S The trial Testcenter Østerild proceeds the next two years and is being followed extensively by researchers from DTU Wind Energy and Aalborg University The test of radars associated with wind turbines is a EUDP project energy technology development and demonstration and is supported by the Danish Energy Agency Source HUB North Maritime Denmark Front page Copyright Maritime Denmark Breaking News Dong Energy puts Hejre field up for sale Few accidents in the Danish oil industry Power from Horns Rev 3 wind turbines Turbulent 2015 for Lindø Industrial Park 16 new licenses distributed in the North Sea Cutbacks

  • Ports » Ports becoming busier
be traced an increase of 6 4 percent in the major ports cargo turnover since 2010 If we compare with the pre crisis level there is much more to do But we can see that many of our members are currently coming out of 2015 with very solid financial statements The ports are simply better at optimizing their operation and have more legs to stand on says Gitte Lillelund Bech CEO of Danske Havne Comparing the 2015 figures with 2014 there has been an increase of 3 percent in ferry cargo for major ports Compared to 2010 this represented a decrease of 9 percent in this area The decline may be explained by the closure of the route between Aarhus and Kalundborg In turn there s a solid increase in cargo freight which accounts for an increase of 12 percent since 2010 and an increase of 11 percent between 2014 and 2015 The Danish commercial ports are reporting good financial statements Aarhus Harbour for example is experiencing a nice development with an increase in cargo freight of 4 percent since 2010 despite the decline in ferry cargo due to the closure of the Kattegat route Source Danske Havne Maritime Denmark
