    Net income from the operation of the port was more than doubled from 20 million kroner in 2013 to 46 million kroner in 2014 The accounts show that we have increasing activities in some very important business areas And we can look at the figures and see that the increase comes in terms of new customers and by virtue of existing customers that have strengthened their business based in Aarhus Harbour It is good bearing of the future says Port Director Jacob Flyvbjerg Christensen who took office on January 1st 2014 He can thus now present its first annual financial statements Looking at the cargo turnover for 2014 both container revenue and bulk sales shot forward which are the two areas where the Port of Aarhus have already had significant market share and is the highest in Denmark Container turnover increased by 3 5 percent while bulk sales increased by 8 1 percent The total cargo turnover declined by 5 6 percent due to lost revenue of the Kattegat route where the last ship sailed in October 2013 If this route is taken into consideration there has been an increase in the total cargo turnover of 4 4 percent in 2014 Rental of buildings and land which is another essential part of the Port of Aarhus income is also growing Here revenue increased in 2014 with four million kroner equivalent to six percent The Port of Aarhus investment plan for the coming years also shows a belief in future growth In the period 2014 2017 Aarhus expects to invest no less than 500 million kroner on new buildings and facilities Source Port of Aarhus Maritime Denmark Front page Copyright Maritime Denmark Breaking News Biggest cruise ship opens the season Frederikshavn Harbour expansion live Another record year for Hirtshals Harbour Esbjerg
