due to Western designers origin in another epistemological system and the technology production emanates from the dominant societies This means that designs are unaligned with local perspectives these are rarely checked with the people involved and technology by itself is not value free thus it shapes through representation and is only able to include what the designers can represent Grounding the Approach Due to the outspoken differences between designers and local elders and the necessitation for eliciting design from within the context the project is positioned in the Participatory Action Research PAR paradigm Reason Bradbury 2013 From an overview position I as a Western academic together with a local team of academics constitute and already belong in one epistemological community of practice Wenger 1998 where the elders who are knowledgeable about the subject intended for digitalization subscribe to a local indigenous epistemology hence constructivism becomes a viewing glass for looking at the research resulting from this collaboration This positionality of outsiders and insiders having sovereignty over different knowledges fits well with PAR tenets of Mutual Learning Nielsen et al 2003 and as suggested by Bennett 1986 through experience of difference can we move from denial where one s own world view is unchallenged as central to reality to integration by application of ethno relativism to one s own identity The project is methodologically situated in Participatory Design which is a product of imbalanced knowledge and power relations in technology production in Scandinavian union worker management setups in late 60 s and early 70 s Schuler Namioka 1993 Thus in the context of participatory design not solely the designers world view gets challenged but also the users in terms of representational transformations and technology use In the production of prototypes it is pivotal that the designed outcomes can represent the world

cardinal point is that they can record manage their own IK locally without assistance Naturally they have been doing so for centuries but the reason for the tool is to transfer parts of this body of IK to youths from the community and region who are unable to assimilate the IK due to being de situated at remote schools And to preserve some of the IK for the future in digital format The HSC is developed for touch screens and currently being implemented on Android tablets Access one of the first papers on the HSC here ACM HSC The current version features 49 different 3D objects of virtual people animals objects and trees When the system is booted the user is presented with a 10inch screen where the center area consists of a flat and empty textured terrain In the lower part of the screen is a row of icons each representing a category containing thematic 3D objects for instance a bull icon illustrating a category with diversely textured cows and bulls in The user inserts an object to the scene by a single touch event on the icons under the categories as seen on Figure 1 Fig 1 The figure show a screenshot from the system where the user has opened the cattle category The user can now translate rotate and scale this object by various touch input gestures such as two finger pinch scaling etc The user can shift camera perspectives from 90 degree top down to a free floating camera While the user inserts and positions objects to illustrate the context of the video a logging system captures in XML what the user is doing in the app The purpose of this is for instance to log interface interactions and to log coordinates and rotations of objects

the visitors of the park The motivation behind the research is to create a new method of gaining knowledge while being entertained by a diversified media system which uses high quality 3d graphics and a touch based dragable and modern Graphical User Interface Those dull text plates are going bye bye Autumn 2009 The focus at the moment is business generation development of the product and testing By including business model thinking we strive to see future scope of the product and gain insight into mechanisms of the modern consumer markets We also develop the GUI system and overall system This is for incorporating new assets and optimizing the users experience with the system Lastly we are also planning to conduct several tests and try to spring new research by evaluating and mapping how and where when the users gather information in our system This is for seeking possibilities into making the product more tailormade to the individual demographics  Spring 2009 We are finalizing our documentation and have just completed analysis of quite a large body of evaluation data All extracted from a 3 days long public evaluation in the park Hopefully this will be the start to something

curriculum about our solar system and 3d animations One of the selling points was to investigate the motivational factor in having 3D graphics visualised as if generated from the pages Wikipedia says the following about augmented reality The project is discontinued but elements regarding motivational learning and methods in testing are still a strong part of my current work I believe that in these modern times we need to develop
